Royal Chitwan National Park
Royal Chitwan National Park

The Royal Chitwan National Park is another highlight of Nepal. Chitwan is listed among the World Heritage Natural Sites. The national park lies in the plains of the Terai and is home to thousands of species of bird, plant and animal life.
The one horned rhino, Bengal tiger, gaur bison, elephant and freshwater dolphins are some of the usual residents of this Eden. Marsh mugger and the endangered Gharial crocodiles populate the emerald waters of its rivers.
The best season to visit the park is between March and May when the tall dense elephant grass is cut or burnt. The game is attracted out in the open by the fresh grass and can be seen more easily. Its best to plan a visit early in the year as May can be very hot. The park is easily accessible from Kathmandu or Pokhara and has facilities that caters to every budget.
